North Coast Brewing Co. Taproom, Restaurant & Bar

Founded on August 17, 1988, the Taproom was the birth place of the North Coast Brewing Co. It started as a little roadhouse where you could taste some great beer and have a nice meal. Thirty years later that still holds true, but the brewery has moved across the street, and we now have over a hundred awards in International competition for our beer. We have a partner farm, Fortunate Farm in Caspar, that takes an average of 6 tons of our spent grain per week and turns it into compost, which returns as wonderful produce for our Taproom. This allowed us to become is TRUE Zero Waste Platinum Certified with over 99% of our waste diverted from landfills. We have a world-class music venue - The Sequoia Room - and we support Jazz Education with our Brother Thelonious Abbey Ale. We also support marine mammal research and rescue with our North Coast Steller IPA. Things have changed over the years, but our mission is still the same - Making the world a better place, One Pint at a Time.

Questions & Answers

Patio pet friendly, service animals ok throughout restaurant

They have a vegan Burger now

I saw 2 in the bar

Not that I saw.

In addition to our award-winning beers, also have regional wines and a full bar stocked with the finest craft spirits.

The Environmental Health Department of Mendocino County has said that no indoor restaurant in Mendocino County is allowed to welcome any but service animals. Alas, our hands (and leashes) are tied. We hope to eventually open an outdoor patio but we can’t welcome pets at this time.

Delicious! However, there are several different styles of clam chowder, so personal preference plays into it a lot. North Coast does NOT have heavy bacon or too many potatoes. It's not overly "clammy" either. Just a nice smooth even clam chowder taste. Personally, in the area I think there's 2 restaurants that have better clam chowder, for my taste. That said, NC is certainly in my top 3 chowders. But you absolutely can't beat NC for ambiance, service, quality menu AND beer selection. Weekend entertainment is way worth checking out too. For me, North Coast is a must visit destination every time we travel to the area.

No - we do not have growlers nor do we pour in growlers to-go for a variety of reasons. This is a long-standing policy from our original Brewmaster and has not changed.

Alas - we do not have our beer-brittle ice cream at this time, but we are working on it.
